Word of the Day
promenade [prom-uh-neyd] OR [prom-uh-nahd] noun 1. a stroll or walk, especially in a public place, for pleasure or display. 2. an area used for such walking. 3. a march of guests into a ballroom to signify the opening of a formal ball. 4. a march of dancers in square dancing. 5. a formal dance (prom).
Are you going to prom? No, but I might go for a promenade later.
verb 6. to go for or take part in a promenade. 7. to execute a promenade in square dancing. 8. to take a promenade through or about. 9. to conduct or display in or as if in a promenade; parade:
A versatile word. It can be used as a noun or a verb, it has a couple of different pronunciations (tomayto/tomahto, anyone?), and it’s pretty much all people are talking about today. Well, most people. I suppose there are a few of us not going.
[private]
I hate the fact that I’m kinda sorta bummed about not going. Prom is totally not my thing, but still. Sigh.
[end private]

I told myself that I was going to try to find a summer job this weekend, but it's supposed to be so beautiful out tomorrow. AND it's my birthday! So I think I'm going to search for whatever it is Nikias did with the phones and glue instead. And after that? Maybe Eden for a birthday celebration of sorts. Anyone want to join me?
Word of the Day
logorrhea [law-guh-REE-uh] noun 1. Pathologically incoherent, repetitious speech. 2. Incessant or compulsive talkativeness; wearisome volubility.
Seriously? Ha! Usually I’d just say "word vomit," but this seems more...polite?

So, yeah. Prom is next week. That's like, all people are talking about in class. Am I the only one not going?
Word of the Day
mondegreen [MON-di-green] noun 1. A word or phrase resulting from a misinterpretation of a word or phrase that has been heard.
e.g. 'Scuse me while I kiss this guy.
The word itself isn't that kickass, but I like the concept of mondegreens. Does anyone have a favorite one?

"Stan, poke your grandma!"
Ah, South Park. Such a guilty pleasure.
Anyway, I FINALLY finished my homework. Oy.
Word of the Day
Flibbertigibbet [FLIB-ur-tee-jib-it] noun 1.A silly, flighty, or scatterbrained person, especially a pert young woman with such qualities.
Tee hee. Now I'm humming "How Do You Solve a Problem Like Maria?" to myself. I don't know about the pert young woman part, though. I've known plenty of male flibbertigibbets.

Sooo tired.
Word of the Day
gambol verb 1. to skip about, as in dancing or playing; frolic 2. to tumble playfully
It's a good word, a delightful pastime, AND a homophone with gamble. And who doesn't enjoy a good homophone now and then?
But anyway, I'm tired. Too much gamboling, I guess. And I still have homework to do. Bah.

I want to do something fun tonight. Does anyone want to go out?
Word of the Day
imbroglio [im-BROHL-yoh] noun 1. a misunderstanding, disagreement, etc., of a complicated or bitter nature, as between persons or nations. 2. an intricate and perplexing state of affairs; a complicated or difficult situation. 3. a confused heap.
Another interesting word. Sometimes, life is just one big imbroglio.
Bonus word: mulch. Not that it's an unusual word or anything, but I do like saying it. Mulch. Plus, it's a noun AND a verb. And my jeans are covered in it. Gotta love gardening!

I am soooo glad it's Friday. I think I'm going to work on my veggie patch this weekend, assuming Fray says it's okay if I dig up the back yard a bit.
Word of the Day:
skulduggery [skul-DUG-uh-ree] noun. 1. Devious, dishonest, or unscrupulous behavior or activity.
I really like this one. Definitely filing it away for future use.

Happy Earth Day!
I think I'm going to take a walk by the river after school. Maybe clean up some of the trash. Anyone interested in doing something nice for momma earth?
Word of the Day:
verdure [vur-jer] noun. 1. greenness, esp. of fresh, flourishing vegetation. 2. green vegetation, esp. grass or herbage. 3. freshness in general; flourishing condition; vigor.
Kind of an awkward word, isn't it? I don't think I'd use it all that often.
The hills are covered with lush verdure? Last night I smoked a bowl of excellent verdure? I slept well last night (see above), so today I'm glowing with verdure?
See? It's weird. I can't figure out how to use it. But it's fitting for Earth Day.
